Honor the Scorned

As harmed people, we often look to our queer and transcestors for strength. Through theses needed moments of discovery, we forget to honor the resiliency of queer and transgender people that empower us who are alive today. It is sacred to share space and stories with those who understand your soul.

To honor those who exist in organic corporeality even though the onslaught of state-sanctioned violence such as police brutality, drug addiction, and trans-misogyny is a privilege. In this ritual of self–&–co–preservation, I utilize my body as a vehicle of activation to tap into vulnerability. I use 5x7 portraits of Kev, a non-binary land defense activist from Xalapa, Veracruz, and a photograph of a motel where Kev and I first made love.

Candles, flowers, and body movement tap into the power of honor, and you are forced to embrace the trans body. The film then radically moves you across time and space, to moments where Kev and I divert from each other's lives. This video operates as a transcendental space where Xelestial's soul is in constant turmoil with the encounters she has in her life, as well as her insistence and demand to be seen under her terms.
