I crave the kind of rest that….

A person of East Asian descent is laying down on a blue yoga mat with a faint smile on their face. They are facing to the right, turned toward a yellow flower that's cupped in their hand. The left hand rests on their stomach.

Rest for Resistance offers space to people who exist at the intersection of three marginalized identities:

  1. BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color)

  2. LGBTQ2SIA+

  3. living with chronic mental health challenges

We’re honored to share your perspectives on healing, emotional challenges and wellness. Please do not feel pressured to include specific details of events you have survived unless that serves your own healing. You have the power to define your truth, your identities, and your journey forward from violence.

Rest for Resistance serves as an outlet for QTBIPOC who are disabled or neurodivergent to be open about themselves. For this wave of material we wish to publish stories, essays, or poems about the rest that you need, the relaxation you need, the ways you dream of thriving.

The writing we feature isn't limited by genre, as you can see in our archives. Essays and short stories average 1000 to 1250 words. Please submit all writing as a .docx file or GoogleDoc link.

Deadline: January 5, 2022
